Promotion Policy

 

The evaluation process should be such that it keeps the development profile of each and every child in a continuous manner. It focuses not only on learning subjects but also on the total personality development of the child. Information on the children is gathered by the teachers through observation in classrooms, activity rooms as well as outdoors, personal discussion, worksheets, oral work, clay, music, dance, physical training, etc. Routine kind of homework is deliberately avoided to reduce pressure on children and make schooling joyful. We at BBPS follow the following guidelines for Evaluation and Promotion:

1. Academics

(i) Grade 1-5 students will be evaluated and promoted on the basis of the Continuous Comprehensive Assessment done by their teachers. The teachers will help the students to improve their performance by identifying their learning difficulties at regular interval of time and also suggesting the remedial measures for enhancing the student's performance.

(ii) The students will be graded regularly and evaluation will be based on the following criteria-

a) Two formative assessments in Term I & Term II each. (classes I-IV)

b) Two formative assessments in Term I & Term II each and summative test. (class V)

c) Child's participation and performance in class activities, homework, project work;
group work, worksheets, class assessment, class response, reading and communicative skills, individual and group behaviour.

d) To be promoted to the next higher class a student must secure minimum
C Grade in aggregate and individually in every subject.

2. Attendance

(i) 75% attendance is mandatory for promotion to the next higher class.

(ii) 15% attendance can be condoned off in case of Medical Emergency by the Principal only with proper MEDICAL CERTIFICATES.

(Iii) Cases of candidates with attendance less than 60% shall be considered by the Principal only in exceptional circumstances.


  1. Attendance


(a) 75% attendance is mandatory for promotion to the next higher class.

             (b) 15% shortage in attendance can be condoned on account of Medical grounds (To be validated                   with Medical Certificate)

              (c) Case of a candidate with attendance less than 60% shall be put up to the Principal for                                 condonation.

2. To be promoted to the next higher class a student must secure 33% marks in the aggregate and a minimum of 33% in each subject in Annual Examination and Internal Assessment as well.

3. A student scoring less than 33% (Annual Exam / Cumulative) in 03 or more subjects will be detained in the same class.

4. For Classes VI to IX, a student scoring less than 33% marks(Annual Exam/ Cumulative) in one or two subjects will be given Compartment.

5. A student appearing for Compartment Exam must score 33% marks in the Compartment Exam to be promoted to the next higher class failing which he/she will be placed in 'DETAINED CATEGORY'.


PROMOTION POLICY   FOR CLASS XI

Attendance

75% attendance is mandatory for promotion to the next higher class.

15% shortage in attendance can be condoned on account of Medical grounds (To be validated with Medical Certificate)

Case of a candidate with attendance less than 60% shall be put up to the Principal for condonation purposes.

For promotion to the next higher class a student must secure an aggregate total of 33% marks and above with a minimum ‘C’ grade in internal Assessment.

In subjects involving practical work, a candidate must obtain 33% marks in theory & 33% marks in the practicals separately to qualify the examination.

The weightage’s accorded to each exam in terms of marks is:

A student scoring less than 33% marks (Final Examinations as well as Cumulative Score) in 03 or more subjects will be DETAINED in the same class.

A student scoring less than 33% marks. (Final Examination as well as Cumulative Score) in one or two subjects will be placed in the ‘COMPARTMENT CATEGORY’.

A student who is placed in the ‘COMPARTMENT CATEGORY’ must score 33% marks in the Compartment Exam to be promoted to the next higher class failing which he/she will be placed in ‘DETAINED CATEGORY’.

There will be no second improvement examination for Cls XI.
